A Milwaukee DoorDash driver has shared a distressing experience after a customer allegedly tracked her down at her residence and vandalized her vehicle, causing approximately $6,000 worth of damage. The incident has sparked concerns about privacy and safety within the gig economy.
According to TMJ4, Faith Morris was unable to complete her DoorDash delivery three weeks prior due to losing internet connectivity with the Dasher app. As a result, she returned home without delivering the order. Morris reported that soon after arriving home, she began receiving repeated phone calls from the customer.
In a frightening escalation, the customer allegedly used the GPS tracking functionality available through the DoorDash app—which still had her location since the order remained incomplete—to locate Morris’s residence. Security footage reportedly captured the customer knocking on Morris’s door before proceeding to vandalize her vehicle.
From personal experience, DeliverySoCal.com understands that technical issues like losing connectivity with the Dasher app can indeed prevent dashers from marking deliveries as complete, especially in areas with poor reception. While customers may understandably become frustrated when an order does not arrive, there are appropriate and safe methods provided within delivery apps to address these issues, such as reporting through the platform’s customer service features.

The Milwaukee Police Department has confirmed an ongoing investigation into the incident. Meanwhile, Morris has expressed serious concerns regarding dasher privacy and safety, stating that she currently feels unable to resume her delivery duties.
Incidents like these highlight the ongoing challenges gig workers face regarding safety, privacy, and app functionality. DeliverySoCal.com encourages dashers to stay vigilant and utilize available app tools to ensure their security.
