A DoorDash delivery driver was hospitalized after being shot during a delivery in Boston’s Brighton neighborhood. The incident occurred late Friday night on July 25, around 11:40 p.m., near 81 Faneuil Street.
Witnesses described the situation as alarming. Jenny, a 14-year-old, was picking up an order from Outback Steakhouse with her younger sister when the shooting happened. The driver was reportedly photographing the delivered order when two gunshots rang out, causing him to collapse with injuries to his stomach.
The injured DoorDash worker was transported to a nearby hospital, and his injuries were reported as non-life-threatening. Police confirmed no arrests have been made at this time and that an investigation into the shooting continues.
Local residents expressed concern and heightened anxiety about neighborhood safety following the incident, especially considering its proximity to a playground. Jenny and her mother expressed relief that no other bystanders were hurt, but emphasized the pressing need for greater efforts to curb gun violence in the community.
Authorities have increased patrols in the area to reassure the community as the investigation progresses. The Brighton community continues to await updates on the investigation and potential arrests.
