Specialized Experience Requirement: For the GW-10 level: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GW-08) in the Federal Service. Examples of specialized experience include: Identified and analyzed suppression tactics and strategies employed on wildland fires, and revised and/or developed approaches in view of such conditions and/or was responsible for making on-site evaluations of conditions, making tactical decisions, and determining appropriate responses pertinent to initial attack, large wildland fire suppression activities and wildland urban interface/intermix situations and/or and exercised discretion in selecting work methods from among a variety of alternatives used to plan and execute support activities for fire and aviation management. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
